The sessions in this course outline the objectives and the recommended structure of delivering forest and biodiversity key objectives. The course is designed to lead the delegates through the performance criteria which is based on the UK Forestry Standard Guidelines, Forests and biodiversity. Delegates will gain an understanding of the key principles of forests and biodiversity to include; protected habitats and species; woodland management and biodiversity; biodiversity in the wider landscape; priority habitats and priority species; native woodlands; landscape ecology; ecological processes; tree and shrub species selection; forest and stand structure; veteran trees and deadwood; open, scrub and edge habitats; riparian zones; habitat creation and restoration; habitat creation and restoration; invasive species; grazing and browsing.
